My daughter has fallen head over heals with the gemstone called tourmaline. To me, it is similar to the color found in an amethyst. The purple hue is very pretty and my daughter has indulged herself with a full set of jewelry made with the gemstone.

Everyone has heard the phrase "My grandmother's pearls" at some point. Someone will say they are going to wear their grandmother's pearls. Or they will state that they inherited some family member's pearls. It seems that pearl necklaces are something that get passed down from generation to generation. I recently inherited some pearls and I will cherish them always. When my daughters get older, I will pass some of them down to them also. Then they will inherit the rest when I am no longer here. Pearl necklaces become beautiful family heirlooms, being passed down again and again. Many families have some pearl necklaces that are from three or four generations back. Pearls have a lasting quality about them, they are valuable so no one gets rid of them. They are also a classic, never going out of style. They can be worn with a little black dress, or jeans and a blouse, which makes them versatile. Pearls are very pretty and almost everyone loves them. I will always cherish my pearls, and think of my loved one who left them to me when I wear them.

I think my best friend’s future husband is one of the most romantic men I've ever met. They are getting married in a few months and he called me the other day to ask me if he could choose the bridal jewelry. I have to admit that it was a request that I've never heard, the man wanting to choose the bridal jewelry? Since my best friend and her husband aren't your traditional couple, I decided to ask him what he had in mind in terms of bridal jewelry.

The wedding is a black and white theme and even though the bride is wearing white, I know she wants to have black accents in either her flowers or her bridal jewelry. Personally, it's not my style, but then again, it's not my wedding. I asked her fiancée if he knew that she wanted to have bridal jewelry that had black in it, and he said that he knew it all, because she was constantly filling his ear with more wedding information than his little pea brain could handle. My husband bought me a beautiful gold pendant for Valentine's Day. When he gave me the little box, I figured it was probably jewelry of some kind. Little did I know how extremely gorgeous it would be. When I opened the box, it was so beautiful that it took my breath away. I saw this gold diamond heart pendant in the box and was speechless. It has diamonds all over the heart, that is sort of puffed and rounded. It hangs from a beautiful gold box chain. I hugged my husband and kissed him, thanking him for this lovely gold pendant that he gave to me. He really does spoil me so much! The gold pendant is one that I will be wearing on many special occasions as well as date nights together with my dear husband. I feel so blessed to have a man that loves me and shows me how much he loves me on holidays like Valentine's Day. It was such a special night, having dinner at a fine dining restaurant together and snuggling with a glass of wine later at home.

My roommate was giving his sister thoughts on the bridal jewelry she was helping to pick out for their mom who will soon be getting married. He loved every single bridal jewelry picture his sister emailed over to him. I heard her on speaker saying he was supposed to not like at least one of the potential choices to help them make a decision. He may not have been able to help with the bridal jewelry but he has been hard at work writing a wedding toast. I walked into his room, he must have been in deep thought because he didn’t hear me come in. After glancing up from the laptop screen, he asked if I’d look over the toast he had so far.

Agreeing on the fact I’ve never written anything like this, I read it and told him his mom would love it. He had a nice story about how he and his sister first were apprehensive the first date their mom went on with her soon to be husband but how over time he won them all over and they are now proud to consider him part of the family.

My friend Steve is married to a feisty Greek woman called Anastasia. Steve is one of those smart guys with a lot of wit but not so much common sense. Steve has called me more than once in a bit of a panic over his volatile and passionate wife. Last week he called me and asked what he should get Anastasia for Valentine’s Day. He really didn’t have a clue and apparently she’s already warned him not to get her chocolate because she is on a diet. I told Steve that something like a gold pendants and jewelry earrings are traditional gifts for a man to give his wife on Valentine’s Day. He asked me if I would look online and see if I could find anything Anastasia might like. He did not give me the chance to say no before he hung up the phone.
Steve is a really sweet person so I did not have the heart to phone him back and say no even though I was quite busy. She Thought She'd Lost the Gold Pendant

A few days ago my daughter came home from school and I could tell that something was bothering her. I didn't want to ask her about it, because I knew when she was ready to talk about it, she'd tell me. Sure enough, when I was making dinner she came into the kitchen and said she had something to tell me. Then she dropped the bombshell- she'd lost my gold pendant. My first question was which gold pendant was she talking about, since I had several. He walked away and came back, with the gold pendant dangling from his fingers. He said that he'd found it laying on her dresser and figured she'd borrowed it without asking, so he took it and put it back in my jewelry box. He wanted to make her sweat and wonder what happened to it in order to teach her a lesson. All I could think about was how happy I was that the gold pendant wasn't lost after all. She was thrilled as well and I'm sure learned her lesson. Kids!

Mom's Pearl Necklaces

My mom had a strong yearning for a pearl necklace. My dad for whatever reason was reluctant to spend the money and purchase one for her. It was not like he couldn't afford to buy her one, in actuality he could have gotten her several pearl necklaces, so money was not the issue.

In defiance, one year for Christmas, my mother took it upon herself to gift herself with a coveted pearl necklace. As luck would have it, my father decided it was time to get my mother the pearl necklace of her dreams. This was an interesting holiday to say the least!

Both pearl necklaces were beautifully wrapped and lovingly placed beneath the well lit Christmas tree. My dad would hand out the gifts every year. He was a proud man as he handed mom the gold wrapped box with a glistening bow. She gingerly wrapped the package with a funny look on her face. She knew what was coming and what remained unopened yet beneath the blazing tree. The rest of that Christmas Eve was memorable indeed as mom finally got not one but two exquisite pearl necklaces!

Finding accessories for the wedding day can be a challenge when looking for the perfect bridal jewelry. My niece was trying her best to follow the traditional adage: "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

She had most of those bases covered. She found an antique lace hanky that her grandmother had made many years ago. It was very pretty with pink embroidered roses. My niece had planned to carry it with the pink and cream colored roses in her bouquet. That took care of "something old." "Something new" was her simple cream colored silk wedding gown. Her fiance had taken care of "something blue" years before when he gave her a sapphire promise ring. They only thing left to cover was "something borrowed" plus she had not gotten her bridal jewelry yet.

In stepped her Aunt. I offered my niece a beautiful pair of pearl earrings to borrow for her special day. She tried the bridal jewelry on and they looked great with her dress. She graciously said yes, to the use of the bridal jewelry. Now she could relax and enjoy her day!

I like to shop for pearl necklaces that aren't the ordinary plain white, on-a-string kind. Those are beautiful too, but I like to find more one of a kind necklaces also. I always browse around on the internet because there are lots of unique kinds of necklaces there. I have a good time sitting at home with my feet up, sipping on a cool drink, looking at pearl necklaces or just about anything I feel like looking at.

I was browsing on the internet the other day, looking for unique pearl necklaces, and came across a company called Ultra Mall. They have a website with a lot of cool stuff on it. It's really a one-stop shop for lots of things. I found really cool, exotic looking necklaces that I had to browse around. I love pearl necklaces of all kinds. The classic white strand of pearls is always beautiful. I have an affinity for the freshwater pearl necklaces of different colors too, though. The black pearls, brown ones, and every color in between are shiny and pretty. I have even seen pink pearls that have a beautiful opalescence. I'm always looking for different colors and styles. I have a two strand black pearl necklace that I enjoy wearing a lot. Some pearl necklaces are multi-stranded, some are just one. Others have just one pearl at the end of a strand of gold or silver. There are so many different styles to choose from.

Now I'd like this brown set to go with other outfits. I like the way the pearls go from the lighter peach color to a tan-brown and then dark brown. I am so excited for this coming May, for many different and amazing reasons. One, I have been long planning with my wonderful wife a vacation to Hawaii, where we will be there for ten wonderful days. We are planning on retaking our wedding vows in the water on the beach; can you imagine how pristine a memory that will be? I have some bridal jewelry that my mother gave to us as a gift, the same bridal jewelry that she wore when she got married, and the same bridal jewelry that her mother, my grandmother, wore at her wedding. I was really taken aback that mother would offer to us such a coveted family heirloom. I promised her that the bridal jewelry would be well taken care of, as this has been passed on down from generation to generation. Now, the bridal jewelry will find its way into our loving care. And one day, I hope to offer that same bridal jewelry to my daughter when her wedding day arrives! Indeed, Hawaii is going to a be a memory filled trip of a lifetime, to say the least!

Pearl Necklaces

This morning when I got out of the shower and went into my jewelry box to grab one of my pearl necklaces, I noticed that the one I wanted to wear wasn’t in its usual spot. Instead, it was moved to another location in my jewelry drawer, where I generally keep my gold pendant. I found it to be odd, but I didn’t mention it to anyone, because I thought maybe I’d put it there when I took it off last and just didn’t realize.

I put on one of the pearl necklaces that my husband ordered online for me, and headed off to work. Once I arrived, I gave him a call and in conversation mentioned that one of my pearl necklaces wasn’t where it was supposed to be. He said that it was his fault, because he’d left the drawer open a few days ago, and that the cat got in the drawer and took the necklace. He found it on the floor with the cat about to carry it out of the bedroom to places unknown. He put the pearls back in the drawer and closed it. Talk about a close call.

Do you ever have those months where it seems like everything is happening at once and coming at you from all directions? That is pretty much how I've felt the past week or so. My sister is getting married in about a month and I am in charge of finding bridal jewelry for the brides maids. The wedding is in black and white, with the bride wearing white and the bride’s maids wearing black. My sister wants me to try to find pearl necklaces in black, or something that will look stunning with their black dresses. In addition, dad has enlisted my help to find a gold pendant for mom for their 40th wedding anniversary which is two days before my sister’s wedding. I haven't had much luck yet with finding the gold pendant because daddy wants something specific that so far I haven't been able to find. I will though, I just hope it's in time.

Needless to say, with finding the bridal jewelry, plus everything else that is happening in my life, I've found myself a bit overwhelmed to say the least. Mom says that I'm doing it to myself, since finding the bridal jewelry shouldn't be any huge feat. She is right in the aspect that I do get overwhelmed easily when there seem to be things coming at me from all different directions, but I do want the bridal jewelry to be perfect, after all it is my sister’s wedding.

My fiancé and I were very stressed out trying to find the perfect wedding dress, and gold pendant and jewelry earrings that would match her custom diamond engagement ring. Shop after shop, for what seemed like years and still no luck on either one. I was just messing around one Saturday morning looking online for a wedding planner, when I happened to come across a designer of wedding dresses that sells them for awesome prices. We searched and researched the subject and businesses that offer dresses and bridal jewelry until we found the perfect dress and wedding ring. Passing Down Bridal Jewelry in Tough Times

A friend I grew up with popped the question to his girlfriend a few months back. They have been since busy planning the wedding looking for no real outside help. The bride’s side of the family lives outside the country and unfortunately does not have the best relationship with their daughter. That being said, they aren’t offering any kind of help for the wedding, which is fine because the couple wanted to do it all on their own in the first place.

My friend’s parents want nothing more then to help out. Being given limited control of how the wedding is going to happen, his mom offered up some of her bridal jewelry to the fiancé. She has been shopping for bridal jewelry online but the price of free is hard to resist. I think she is going to use a blending of the pieces his mom is lending and a couple she finds online. The invitations have been sent so it looks like they have it all figured out. Buying the last pieces of bridal jewelry, booking the rooms and coordinating the ceremony are the last pieces on their to-do list.

To Replace the Lost Gold Pendant

Last summer my mom was swimming while on vacation and she lost her favorite gold pendant that my sister and I had given her several years ago for Christmas. I remember when the phone rang and mom was crying on the other end, I thought for sure that something horrible had happened to them on their vacation until she told me that she was swimming in the ocean and lost the gold pendant. I was so relieved that it wasn't anything serious, but to mom losing the gold pendant was major. She apologized profusely and said that she'd meant to take off the gold pendant when she went swimming but she forgot about it. Then her chain got caught on something and broke. She was able to catch the chain before it sank to the bottom of the ocean, but the gold pendant wasn't so lucky. Mom went on to say that her vacation was ruined because she was so upset about the gold pendant. I had to give her a little kick in the pants so to speak by telling her that her vacation wasn't ruined and that she'd better get out there and have a good time or else. She did enjoy the rest of her trip, but she still talks about how she can't believe that she lost the gold pendant.

After all this happened, I suggested to my sister that we buy mom another gold pendant for her birthday this year to replace the one she lost.
